My Own Site: A Live SEO Audit

Web Pro Design Group · Clermont, FL

Technical SEO Site Architecture Content Cleanup

The Challenge

Even a site I built myself had accumulated real technical debt. It had never been connected to Google Search Console, so I had zero visibility into how it was actually performing. On top of that, a stale sitemap from 2016 was still submitted, the homepage was missing a real SEO title and meta description, and an old About page was still live with leftover placeholder content — fake team members and Lorem ipsum text — from an early build.

What I Did

Phase 1 · Visibility
  • Set up and verified Google Search Console from scratch
  • Diagnosed a stale, incorrect sitemap submission and replaced it with the correct live sitemap
Phase 2 · Technical Cleanup
  • Diagnosed sitemap bloat — 64 submitted URLs, only 6 were real content pages
  • Excluded media attachments and page-builder layout parts from indexing
  • Fixed a duplicate homepage URL with a proper 301 redirect
Phase 3 · Content & Metadata
  • Rewrote the homepage SEO title and wrote a keyword-targeted meta description (previously blank)
  • Found and removed an entire page of live placeholder content, with a clean redirect in its place

Before / After

This work just wrapped, so long-term ranking data isn’t available yet — here’s the current state compared to where it started:

Search visibility data (clicks, impressions, rankings) will be added here in a few months once there’s enough history to show real growth — same as the Fornaro Legal case study.
